We had a lovely time showing some of our families what we get up to at Little Oaks Nursery Class. The children made fruit kebabs with the help of some family members, explored making prints with different vegetables and even invited their parents and grandparents to join in on Tirlebrook 10.

The children have been using recycled materials to build their own bird houses. The children made some fantastic creations and had some wonderful ideas.
Little Oaks children have enjoyed visiting the school library to choose books to share at home. They have explored a variety of books and have enjoyed looking at them independently and as a group.
Today Little Oaks visited the woodland workshop area. The children looked for outdoor materials that interested them such as petals, leafs, grass and sticks. They brought the objects back to the classroom and have created there own woodland scenes this afternoon using glue to stick down their favourite materials.
The children enjoyed exploring shape last week. We learnt the names of some 2D shapes- Circle, Square, Rectangle, Octagon, Pentagon, Rectangle, Oval. The children also used some 3D shapes to build with. We had some fantastic constructions- boats, houses, towers.
Today the children were involved in Kindness Day. Lots of children wore their favourite rainbow coloured clothes to school. At Little Oaks we sat together at circle time and the children shared ideas for being kind at home and whilst at school. The children have also worked together over the last couple of weeks to make a friendship flower which can be seen on our display board. We have also seen some lovely kind acts throughout the day which we have celebrated together.
As part of physical development we have been taking part in some music and movement activities. The children have enjoyed moving to the beat and instructions of 'Busy Feet', parachute games where they followed instruction closely and we even celebrated International Dance Day by learning a small sequence of movements together.
The children have been exploring different herbs in the tuff spot. They used magnifying glasses to look at the different leaves and enjoyed the different smells of each plant. There was lots of discussion about which herb smelt the best. We also thought about where we have smelt these smells before e.g the mint plant smelt like tooth paste.
